Most Royal Oak collectors expect a Tapisserie dial. This Jumbo deliberately does without one.
The Royal Oak “Jumbo” Extra-Thin ref. 16202BC was introduced in 2023 in 18k white gold with a finely grained blue dial. A modern interpretation of the unusual textured dials seen on certain platinum ref. 14802 Jubilee pieces made for the Royal Oak’s 20th anniversary in 1992.
Collectors often call these older textured dials “Tuscan”, although that is a collector nickname rather than AP’s official terminology. On the 16202BC, the surface is finer and more uniform than the irregular, almost hammered appearance of the vintage examples. The blue colour is applied by PVD and finished with a translucent coating that emphasises the grain.
Underneath, it is very much the modern Jumbo: 39mm, 8.1mm thick, with AP’s Calibre 7121, the movement introduced with the 16202 generation to replace the long-serving Calibre 2121. It runs at 4Hz, offers approximately 55 hours of power reserve and adds a practical quick-set date, while keeping the same exceptionally slim case profile.
